Owen, a Longmont native, has accrued 14 years of experience on the violin, 7 on the viola, and intermittent piano study since he was 5. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in violin performance and a certificate in music technology.
While at the University of Northern Colorado, Owen enriched his musical abilities by performing on both violin and viola as a member of the University Symphony Orchestra and URSA Consort Baroque Ensemble. In 2017, he played violin in the UNC string quartet that achieved first place in the MTNA Regional Chamber Music Competition in Boulder. Owen's talents were also featured on Colorado Public Radio: Classical, where he played Astor Piazzolla's Four for Tango with the same quartet.
Since the completion of his studies, Rooney established a private studio in Longmont, subsequently relocating to Sugarland, Texas to instruct at the Groove Music Academy, before returning to Longmont to re-open his studio.
Rooney has imparted his musical knowledge to a diverse range of students, encompassing a wide age range from five to sixty-five years old and representing various cultural backgrounds. Owen's students value his enthusiasm, skill, and ability to foster a love for learning music
